Inle Lake

Floating villages and gardens are waiting for you at the picturesque Inle Lake in the western Shan State.
The local people - Intha - live in wooden houses built on stilts and the fishermen stand on one leg on their boats wrapping the other leg around their oar for rawing.
A boat trip, departing in Nyaung Shwe, will bring you to the most famous places:
- Indein with its ancient pagoda fields,
- Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda with its holy five ancient golden Buddha images, and
- Nga Hpe Kyaung Moastery with its jumping cats.
