Monywa, 150km west of Mandalay, is the ideal starting point for exploring the nearby attractions:

• Lacquerware village Kyaukka and its Shweguni Pagoda's wish fulfilling Buddha,
• Hpo Win Daung & Shwe Ba Taung caves with their carvings, mural paintings and hundreds of Buddha statues,
• Bodhi Tataung Laykyun Sekkya standing Buddha statue. With its 116 meters, it is the second highest Buddha statue in the world, and
